My Family, As I write this message we will be on the threshold of worshipping together during our High Holy Day services which are being held, once again, at Maple Point Middle School in Langhorne, PA. As mentioned last month, I look forward to our worshiping together for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur as one family; sharing this moment in life with each of you. Let’s have a chance to connect together and reflect on our blessings that we can be together as “one” to worship God. We should also look to this period as a time of self-renewal and ask to be scribed once more, in the Book of Life. I am very happy to report to you that we have successfully concluded our negotiations with Rabbi and a new contract has been signed. Rabbi will be with us through July 2009 at which time he will retire but, Rabbi will become our first-ever Rabbi Emeritus and will continue to be with us. I also want to let you know that last evening I signed two documents which is a tremendous investment in our future. I stopped in to the office and signed the contract to purchase the modular classrooms for our school needs (giving us much needed space relief four our growing school) as well as the check for the down payment. As reported last month, all township approvals have been sought and granted and we’re ready to “Build For Our Future”. OK, the modular company will build it but we’ll install it right behind our present building. I am very excited about this and hope that you will stop into the lobby to see the rendering of the building as well as our “Thermometer” that gives up-to-date readings on the success of our capital campaign to “Raise This Building”. We still need you to help us successfully raise the funds necessary for this addition to our campus. If you would like to help with the financial challenge of a successful campaign for the Education Modular, please contact Seymour Nowicki at 1-800-477-4326 or at wicker.wick@comcast.net. As I have been reporting in the not-to-distant past, GRASP continues to be a reality here at Brothers of Israel. Data has been summarized and an action plan is being developed to implement many of the ideas garnered from this intense research. You will hear more about this process as well as some successes planned (both on a “Quick Hit” and longer-term basis) during the high holydays. One outgrowth from this GRASP process that has already been implemented is the establishment of a Programming Committee (co-chaired by Donna Nowicki and Andrea Kornblum) that will be responsible for all programming coordination as well as developing new programs for our family. As usual, a great group of family members have already stepped up and joined this new committee. It’s still not too late to have you join as well; contact Donna or Andrea. Also, have you visited the Israel Garden yet? It is truly a wonderful project that was developed and implemented by many arms of the synagogue. Please stop by for a visit today!!! As you can see from the above, exciting things are continuing in and around the synagogue campus!!!!!!!! Join us, get involved and continue to make us strong for the future!!!!!!!!! More to come next month………… Respectfully Submitted on Behalf of our Leadership Team, Vic Giuffré |
