L’Shanah Tovah,

I hope you are enjoying this High Holy Day season.  It is my favorite time of year and my favorite holidays.  By now everyone has received the beautiful Rosh Hashanah card sent by Sisterhood. Thank you to all those who contributed to have their names placed on the card.  A big thank you goes to Harriet Belovin and her team who made the calls and kept the lists.  Harriet has been in charge of our New Year’s card for many years and we truly appreciate her efforts. I also want to thank Robin Belovin who was a great help in all of the final preparations.  Speaking of Harriet, please send your responses back ASAP for the Torah Fund Dinner we are holding in her honor. Harriet has held almost every position in Sisterhood including president and is always ready to volunteer for Sisterhood or for the synagogue.

Thank you to Sandy Kitain who led our book review last month.  Sandy, you always do a great job finding interesting discussion points for us to talk about.  We hope to do another book review in the spring.

Exciting things are happening. I already mentioned the book review this month. Joan Hersch will begin Moonbeams, our Rosh Chodesh group, on Wednesday, October 29th. It will take place at the home of Bari Wolfson in Langhorne, PA. This session’s topic is The Ten Commandments. We get together, learn a little (through a woman’s viewpoint) and nosh but most importantly, we connect with each other and take time for ourselves.  If you have never been to a Moonbeams evening, please join us!  It is special.

On November 23rd we will hold a special Chanukah sale showcasing our new merchandise. This year I accompanied Judi Young to the Gift Show.  It was quite an experience and I saw again firsthand how hard she works to find beautiful Judaica.  I hope you purchased something new for the High Holy Days.  Our merchandise can be seen on many popular web sites but our prices are better.  Please patronize our gift shop and also buy supermarket gift cards so that we can continue to support the many different programs at Brothers of Israel.

December 6th we will hold a special outing to Society Hill Playhouse in Philadelphia to see “She Loves You”, a Beatles review including a live band.  The time is 8PM. The tickets are $45. We ordered a limited number so let us know immediately if you are interested.  Judy Minsky, who kindly finds and runs all of our “show trips”, is running this trip as well.  It is open to anyone, not just females, not just our membership.

I do want to mention that I am seeking women to fill board positions. Please contact me if you would like to help with membership, programming, gift card program (other than supermarket) or some other area of interest.

 Shalom,

 Mindy Seckel, Sisterhood President
